Bulwark - Notes

Much of my life was spent preparing drawings to mend, renovate or design buildings. This started as a childhood interest. It was a solid career but never quite what I was looking for or rather what originally attracted me to structures was not found in this type of work. So through the grouping exploring the initial longing.

Looking back through my attractions now, my infatuation really was with what I call animal architecture. Those basic shelters which hold much ancient energy. These often were provided with symbolic or metaphoric power related to primary but often contradictory forces like communion and isolation, birth and death, or; peace and protection.

Below all this is the idea of home and what is it? As well, it addresses contrasting needs of security and meaning.

Towards the actual labour attempting not to repeat images and methods as much as possible aiming at a real inquiry.
